When Mischief Meets Meaning: The World of Naughty and the Lives Behind It
Naughty is a unique film that is both playfully mischievous and instantly captures the heart. The trailers appearing to showcase a rom-com full of youthful energy and chaotic romance led viewers to believe that it was a shallow venture. It was not until the audience actively entered the theatre that they were struck with a rousing and enriching portrayal of the complexities of the human existence and the strife to find identity and belonging.
The combination of the filmmakers and cast was simply sensational and they were all driven by the same motivation: to create a film that was a mirror of real life and of real experiences.
The Story That Starts with a Smile but Ends with a Sting
Kabir, the main character of the film, is a college student with a jovial and mischievous persona. Everyone knows him, including the residents of his neighbourhood, but few realize that the constant uproar and festivities he promotes hide a deeper sense of loneliness and a battle with internal interpersonal conflicts.
Fierce and super-smart Tara is a new transfer that joins the College in the middle of the term, and now, of course, she has no time for any kind of nonsense. But, of course, Kabir seems to have nothing but time for Kabir nonsense. This is the basic conditioning of the principal set of materials and the whole new level in the Kabir and Tara relationship, where there is a clear personality clash, other opposing principles, and plenty of both of the traumatizing kinds of personalities.

The Actor Playing Kabir Experienced the Snowball Effect of the Character He Was Playing
The actor with great comic talent, who played Kabir, was the least person likely to be very cheerful in real life. He went through very trying times due to difficulties in life, and with the family being dependent on him, he was the eldest son and did not have better luck auditioning.
He mentioned that he could relate to Kabir’s character in that he also did not express himself but would make others laugh. His performance was. His performance was very genuine. There were no rehearsals for the scene in which Kabir breaks down, and it is very emotional. He was very nervous and quiet, and the actor brought to that scene props from real life, from emotional memories that he was very private about. He was very private about them, and the camera was left running.
Tara’s Discipline Echoing the Actress’ Real-Life Discipline
The actress for this role had her own history that molded the character. She was a classical dancer who had training and schooling, and was a performer herself. She was once the victim of undesirable criticism that was expected from above. She had the same type of pressure performers had, and she brought that pressure into her role of Tara.
She prepared in a bit of a method fashion: she followed Tara’s strict sleeping schedule, she wrote journal entries in Tara’s voice, and she refrained from talking casually on set to stay in character. She also made the bold move of bringing to set filled notebooks, complete with handwritten equations and coursework, so the scenes she was in would look authentic and like they were lived in.
The two performers carried a set of emotional truths from their own lives, making Kabir and Tara into characters one could imagine being in the same study group, engaging in argument, or silently admired from a distance.

Memories of a College Ever Gone By
During a difficult period in his life, the director pulled out the old diaries he kept when he was in college, and was inspired to write this film. Some of the pranks that Kabir pulled in the film were based on real incidents, such as the very popular \fake announcement’ episode, which made the whole class think that the exams had been rescheduled.
And it was real memories, not imagination that crystalized the authenticity.
The Unfamous Rain Scene
In one of the turning point scenes of the film, Kabir and Tara remove their masks and speak to one another as their real selves for the first time. Most people don’t know the scene \famous’ rain sequence took over 16 hours to shoot due to repeated malfunctions of the rain system. The actors were tired and freezing from the water.
And because of that fatigue, a fragility honesty was added to the scene. The quivering, trembling hands and voices \absence’ of acting made it a scene to shower love on.
The Improvised Humour That Gained Fame
Much of the humour that #Kabir\” came from improvisation that the actor was allowed to do, and this was encouraged by the director more than once. The result was pure, ambient and energetic humour that was spontaneous and unearthed a great deal of love from the social media space. Especially from the viral audio clips created using his improvised lines.

Many films attempt to showcase societal issues, many films attempt to delve into the psyche of the society, however, films that truly get to the very core of the societal happenings are few and far between. Naughty was truly able to get to the core of the very issues that trouble society, especially the younger generation. It highlighted the issues of mental and emotional strength that society, especially that of the Indian community, fails to address. It touched on the issues of hiding one’s true feelings, and the gentle strength needed to support others, especially the ones close to you. It was able to showcase the facade created by society that prevents an individual, especially a girl, from being themselves. It highlighted the strength that does not need to be vocal or seen, it does not need to be a show of loud actions. It highlighted the emotional struggles that exist, especially from a girl’s perspective. It told us that it is okay to not be good all the time, to not be the perfect person that is expected from society, and to not be that pillar of strength that is needed by others.
Impact on Society
The film starts off with a beautifully crafted comical piece that sets the tone of the film, one that is sure to entertain. It showcases beautiful artistic talent, both in terms of the script and actors, behind a piece of art that many would consider as a light-hearted film. However, the film is so much more. It has the ability to showcase the emotional and mental struggles that one may not realize exist. It leaves you feeling a perfect mixture of happiness and sadness, a feeling that may not resonate with audiences on a large scale. This film has the ability to linger on one’s mind.
